Let \(K_j\) be singular integral operator on \(L_2(\mathbb{R}^n,\mu)\) with kernel \(\frac{x_j-y_j}{| x-y| ^2}\) and \(\mu\) be a regular Borel measure whose support is contained in a unit cube in \(\mathbb R^n.\) The paper under review deals with a general problem of simultaneous diagonalization of commuting tuples of self-adjoint operators modulo a norm ideal \(\mathcal C.\) The author shows that if a norm ideal \(\mathcal C\) is such that \(\| X^{[k]}\| _{\mathcal C}\leq B k^t\| X\| _{\mathcal C}\) for every finite rank operator \(X\) and every natural \(k,\) where \(X^{[k]}\) denotes direct sum of \(k\) couples of \(X,\) \(t\in(0,1),\) \(B>0\) some constants, and if \(\| \Sigma_{w\in W}2^{| w| }\mu(Q_w)\xi_w\otimes\xi_w\| _{\mathcal C}<\infty\), then \(K_j\in {\mathcal C}'\) (the dual of \({\mathcal C}^{(0)}\)). Here, \(\{Q_w, w\in W\}\) is the usual dyadic decomposition of \(Q,\) \(\xi_w, w\in W\) any orthonormal set.
