Suppose that \(M\) is a complex manifold, \(S\) is a complex analytic subvariety of~\(M\), and \(E\) is a holomorphic vector bundle over~\(M\). Then we can ask for conditions under which the natural restriction map \(\Gamma(M,{\mathcal{O}}(E))\to\Gamma(S,{\mathcal{O}}(E))\) is surjective. One can also ask the corresponding question for \(q\)th cohomology. The answer is affirmative, for example, if \(M\) is Stein. In this article, the author gives other conditions under which, for certain \(M\), \(S\), and \(E\), surjectivity holds for any~\(q\). Firstly, \(M \) should be a holomorphically convex Kähler manifold. Secondly, \(E\) should be of the form \(K_M\otimes V \otimes L\) where \(K_M\) is the canonical bundle, \(V \) is an Hermitian vector bundle on~\(M\), and \(L\) is an Hermitian line bundle on~\(M\). Thirdly, there are curvature conditions on \(V\) and~\(L\), namely that their curvature forms \(\Theta_V\) and \(\Theta_L\) should satisfy \(\Theta_V \geq 0\) and \(\Theta_V-\varepsilon\Theta_L\geq 0\) in the sense of Nakano for some~\( var\epsilon>0\). (Similar curvature conditions naturally arose in questions of \(L^2\)-extendibility of cohomology classes from singular subvarieties.) Finally, we may take \(S=s^{-1}(0)\) where \(S\) is any non-zero holomorphic section of~\(L\). This result follows a theorem of cohomology injectivity in the spirit of \textit{H.~Skoda} [ Ann. Sci. Éc. Norm. Supér. (4) 11, 577--611 (1978; Zbl 0403.32019)]. The author concludes by discussing the relationship to \(L^2\)-extendibility of holomorphic functions from singular subvarieties of pseudoconvex domains in~\({\mathbb {C}}^n\).
