The authors are concerned with a generalized SIR model (susceptible-infected-removed) of Kermack-McKendrik type. They prove the existence of traveling waves to the resulting reaction-diffusion system of ordinary differential equations when the wave speed is greater than some minimum value. For this, the authors make use of Schauder's fixed point theorem and Laplace's transform.
