The author considers the set of solutions of the differential equation \[ (\varphi_p(x'(t)))'+ h(t) f(t, x(t))= 0,\quad 0< t< 1 \] satisfying one of the boundary conditions {\parindent=8mm \begin{itemize}\item[(i)] \(x(0)- g_1(x'(0))= 0\), \(x(1)+ g_2(x'(1))= 0\), \item[(ii)] \(x(0)- g_1(x'(0))= 0\), \(x'(1)= 0\), \item[(iii)] \(x'(0)= 0\), \(x(1)+ g_2(x'(1))= 0\), \end{itemize}} where \(p> 1\), \(\varphi_p(y)= |y|^{p-2} y\). He derives conditions on the functions \(h\), \(f\), \(g_1\), \(g_2\) such that the boundary value problems under considerations have at least one, at lest \(m\) or countable many positive solutions. The key tool for the proofs is the fixed point theorem of Krasnoselskii on cone expansion and compression.
