Let \(X\) be a real reflexive Banach space with dual \(X^*\). Let \(A:X \rightarrow X^*\) be a nonlinear continuous monotone operator. In general, the equation \(Ax=f, \;f\in R(A)\), is ill-posed, i.e., its solutions do not depend continuously on \(f\). Consider the following regularized equation \[ Ax + \alpha F(x-x^0) = f_{\delta}, \] where \(x^0\) is not a solution of \(Ax=f\), \(\alpha\) is a positive parameter, \(F:X\rightarrow X^*\) is the normalized duality mapping, and \(f_{\delta}\) (\(\delta >0\)) is an approximation of \(f\). The solution \(x^{\delta}_{\alpha}\) of this equation converges to a solution \(x_0\) of the equation \(Ax=f\), as \(\alpha\) and \(\delta / \alpha\) tend to zero. The author investigates the rate of convergence of \(x^{\delta}_{\alpha(\delta)}\) as \(\delta \to 0\), for some choice \(\alpha = \alpha (\delta )\).
