A two stage algorithm is presented to determine an analytical model-based rational function by adaptively selecting sampling points. Stoer-Bulirsch model parameter estimation is used. First stage algorithm: fitting model adaptively. Second stage: verifing the fitted model. Application in the fast calculation of Green's function in multi-layer soils is presented.
