      The authors study nonlinear difference systems of the form \[ y_{i}^{\left( n+1\right) }=y_{i}^{\left( n\right) }\exp\left( r_{i}^{\left( n\right) }-\sum_{j=1}^{k} a_{ij}^{\left( n\right) }y_{j}^{\left( n\right) }- \sum_{j=1}^{k} b_{ij}^{\left( n\right) }y_{j}^{\left( n-\tau_{ij}^{\left( n\right) }\right) }\right) , \] \(n\in\mathbb{Z},\) \(i=1,\dots,k,\) where \(r_{i}^{\left( n\right) },\) \(a_{ij}^{\left( n\right) },\) \(b_{ij}^{\left( n\right) },\) \(\tau _{ij}^{\left( n\right) }\) are \(\omega\)-periodic sequences (in \(n\)). Using a continuation theorem of Mawhin concerning Fredholm operators, they show that the system admits a positive \(\omega\)-periodic solution. The system in study is important because it describes multispecies ecological competition system or multi-nation competition models.
