The idea of 't Hooft that quantum mechanics can be derived from classical physics [\textit{G. 't Hooft}, J. Stat. Phys. 53, 323--344 (1988); Classical Quantum Gravity 13, 1023--1039 (1996; Zbl 0855.53047); 16, 3263--3279 (1999; Zbl 0937.83015)] is discussed in the framework of the path integral technique. 't Hooft has shown that an appropriate constraining procedure (realized physically by information loss, or dissipation) applied to the deterministic system can reduce the physical degrees of freedom so that quantum mechanics emerges. The authors study this quantization procedure by means of path integrals, treating the 't Hooft's constrained dynamics by means of the Faddeev-Jackiw technique [\textit{L. D. Faddeev} and \textit{R. Jackiw}, Phys. Rev. Lett. 60, 1692--1624 (1988)]. This simplifies the consideration as compared the preceding paper of the authors [Phys. Rev. 71, 052507 (2005)].
