There are three ways to count curves in Calabi-Yau 3-folds: Gromov-Witten invariants, Donaldson-Thomas invariants and Pandharipande-Thomas stable pair invariants. They are related by the GW/DT/PT conjecture. It is an interesting question to understand how these counting invariants change under birational transformations. Since birational CY 3-folds have equivalence of derived categories, theoretically, one would like to approach the question (for DT and PT invariants) using change of Bridgeland stability condition and Joyce-Song's wall-crossing formula. The author is a leading expert in this area, e.g. he used such machinery to prove DT/PT correspondence [\textit{Y. Toda}, J. Am. Math. Soc. 23, No. 4, 1119--1157 (2010; Zbl 1207.14020)] and 3-fold flop fomula [\textit{Y. Toda}, J. Reine Angew. Math. 675, 1--51 (2013; Zbl 1267.14049)]. In this paper, the author considers a CY 3-fold \(X\) which contains an embedded \(\mathbb{P}^{2}\). Since the normal bundle is negative, one can blow down the \(\mathbb{P}^{2}\) and replace the blown-down singular variety \(Y\) by a smooth Deligne-Mumford stack \(\mathcal{Y}\). We then have an equivalence of derived categories between \(X\) and \(\mathcal{Y}\). The author proves a beautiful formula which expresses PT invariants of \(\mathcal{Y}\) in terms of PT invariants of \(X\) and generalized DT invariants of local CY 3-fold \(\omega_{\mathbb{P}^{2}}\). He also studies auto-equivalence of \(D^{b}(X)\) given by Seidel-Thomas twist along \(\mathcal{O}_{\mathbb{P}^{2}}\) and derives an interesting constraints among PT invariants on such CY 3-folds.
