Bei der Verwandlung von \(\vartheta_3 (z)\) in ein unendliches Produkt ist eine vom Modul \(q\) abhängige Konstante \(G (q)\) zu bestimmen. Die Verf. setzen \(G (q) = \varphi (q) \varPi(1 - q^{2n})\) und zeigen, daß \(\varphi(q)=\varphi(q^{4^\nu})\) ist (\(\nu = 1,\, 2,\, \ldots\)). Da \(\varphi(0) =1\) und \(\varphi(q)\) bei \(q = 0\) regulär ist, folgt daraus \(\varphi(q) = 1\).
