\textit{H. Kalisch} and \textit{D. Mitrović} [Proc. Edinb. Math. Soc., II. Ser. 55, No. 3, 711--729 (2012; Zbl 1286.35162)] proposed an explicit solution (containing a Dirac mass) of the fully nonlinear Brio system (non-convex strictly hyperbolic) \[ u_t+\left( \frac{u^2+v^2}{2} \right)_x=0, \] \[ v_t + (uv-v)_x=0. \] In the present paper, the author defines the concept of an \(\alpha\)-solution (which is a consistent extension of the concept of classical solution) for that nonlinear system. The Riemann problem for the Brio system is considered with initial conditions depending on four parameters. It is shown that this problem has an \(\alpha\)-solution, which is independent of \(\alpha\) and contains a Dirac mass. The uniqueness of this solution is established in a class of distributions.
