The author studies embeddings of real finite dimensional Hausdorff manifolds \(M\), which are not necessarily paracompact or second countable, into a locally convex topological product vector space \({\mathbb R}^I\) of the real numbers \(\mathbb R\) over an arbitrary index set \(I\). If \(M\) is neither paracompact nor second countable, the index set \(I\) must necessarily be infinite. Main Theorem: For any \(r\in \{1,2,\dots\}\cup \{\infty\}\), there exists an index set \(I\) such that any finite dimensional Hausdorff \(C^r\)-manifold \(M\) (not necessarily second countable) can be \(C^r\)-embedded into the locally convex space \({\mathbb R}^I\). In a second main theorem, the author determines the minimal cardinality of \(I\) for which such an embedding is possible. Other results are concerned with special questions about existence of real-analytic embeddings of the Long Line and the Open Long Ray into locally convex vector spaces.
