Nach einer Methode von \textit{Coolidge} (Bull. Amer. Math. Soc. 27 (1921), 439-442; F. d. M. 48, 608 (JFM 48.0608.*)) werden die Erwartungswerte der dritten und vierten Momente einer statistischen Reihe berechnet. Die üblichen Formeln für die \textit{Bernoulli}schen, \textit{Lexis}schen und \textit{Poisson}schen Reihen ergeben sich als Spezialfälle.
