Zu der schon häufig behandelten Auflösung der Matrixgleichung \(P(X)=A\) für ein Polynom \(P(x)\) mit Koeffizienten aus einem Körper \(F\) (vgl. etwa \textit{Roth}, Transactions A. M. S. 30 (1928), 579-596; F. d. M. 54, 111 (JFM 54.0111.*)) gibt Verf. eine Methode, die allgemeinste Lösung zu bestimmen. Dabei wird insbesondere auf Lösbarkeit in passend gewählten Erweiterungskörpern von \(F\) geachtet. An einem Beispiel erläutert Verf. sein Verfahren.
