Convex regular polytopes are known in the Euclidean space of any dimension. For a regular polytope its symmetry group is transitive on its flags, so the flags form one orbit under the symmetry group action. In the paper under review the author studies convex polytopes with two orbits on the flags under the symmetry group action. It is determined that two-orbit convex polytopes exist only in dimensions two and three. In dimension 3 these are four polyhedra: the cuboctahedron, the icosidodecahedron, and their duals the rhombic dodecahedron and the rhombic triacontahedron. Their combinatorial automorphism groups are also two-orbit. In dimension 2 there are two infinite series of certain \(2n\)-gons, for each \(n \geq 2\), that have two orbits on the flags. They are combinatorially regular. Also the author classifies the face-to-face tilings of the Euclidean plane by convex polytopes whose symmetry groups have two flag orbits. It is established that such two-orbit tilings exist only in dimensions one, two and three. In dimension 1 there is a family of such tilings, in dimension 2 there are four families of such tilings, in dimension 3 there are two families of such tilings.
