The paper addresses problems of rigorous existence of solutions to the initial-value problem for the coupled system consisting of the quantum-mechanical Schrödinger equation and the system of classical Maxwell's equations (written in the Coulomb gauge), in the case when the Schrödinger equation contains a nonlinear self-repulsive power term (with an arbitrary power). This is a system of model equations for a nonrelativistic quantum plasma, interacting with the classical electromagnetic field in the three-dimensional space. Developing techniques which were previously used for the rigorous analysis of the same system without the nonlinear term in the Schrödinger equation, the paper reports a rigorous proof of the local existence of solutions to the initial-value problem, and of the global existence of weak solutions to the same problem.
