This paper considers the family of ordinary differential equations \(Ay'+ By=0\), where \(A\) may be singular, in which a selected set of components \(\widetilde y\), a subset of \(y\), is to be found. It is shown how to recast the problem as \(\widetilde y'= C\widetilde y\) that can then be solved by the Abramov-Bronstein algorithm. The approach is implements in Maple.
