The paper is an interesting contribution to the study of conjugacy classes of \(C^{1+{\alpha}}\)-smooth Anosov diffeomorphisms \(G\) of the two-dimensional torus with a prescribed isotopy class \(G_{\gamma}\) determined by a Fibonacci like matrix. More specifically, the authors consider a toral Anosov automorphism \(G_{\gamma}: {\mathbb T}_{\gamma}\to{\mathbb T}_{\gamma}\) given by \(G_{\gamma}(x,y) = (ax+y,x)\), where \({\mathbb T}_{\gamma}={\mathbb R}^2/(v{\mathbb Z}\times w{\mathbb Z})\), \(a\in {\mathbb N}\setminus\{1\}\), \(\gamma = (-a+ \sqrt{a^2+4})/2= 1/(a+1/(a+1/\dots))\), and where \(v=(\gamma,1)\) and \(w=(-1,\gamma)\) in the canonical basis of \({\mathbb R}^2\). Inspired among others by the work of \textit{Y. Jiang} [J. Dyn. Differ. Equations 17, No. 1, 51--71 (2005; Zbl 1077.37030)], the authors have introduced [Trans. Am. Math. Soc. 364, No. 5, 2261--2280 (2012; Zbl 1269.37014)] the notion of \textit{golden tiling} of the two-dimensional torus \({\mathbb T}_{\gamma}\) defined by the toral Anosov automorphism \(G_{\gamma}\) given by the usual Fibonacci matrix corresponding to \(a=1\). In the present paper, the authors extend their results to so-called \textit{\({\gamma}\)-tilings} defined by toral Anosov automorphisms \(G_{\gamma}\) given by Fibonacci-like matrices corresponding to \(a\in {\mathbb N}\setminus\{1\}\).
