Developing and analyzing fourth-order difference methods for the metamaterial Maxwell's equations (Q2631985)

A fourth-order explicit scheme and a compact implicit scheme for the metamaterial Maxwell's equations are developed. Stability is shown and error estimates are derived. This is achieved by transforming the fourth-order implicit compact difference scheme to an equivalent form of a fourth-order explicit scheme so that an analysis applicable for explicit schemes could be carried over to the implicit one. Results on numerical experiments illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed procedures.
