In this paper, the application of the finite volume method to the discretization of the homogeneous Dirichlet problem for the Laplace equation on (logically) quadrilateral meshes is considered. Namely, the authors focus on the hybrid Wilson finite volume method, which is briefly reminded in Section 2. However, the main goal of this paper is to prove $H^1$ and $L^2$ mesh-dependent error estimates, under appropriate assumptions on the mesh and the solution. The solvability of the discrete problem is also established. In this way, the first order convergence for $H^1$ and the second order for $L^2$ norms are established. In the final Section 5 the authors present also the numerical evidence to support and illustrate their theoretical findings.
