Arguing that ``Beddington-DeAngelis form of functional response has some of the same qualitative features as the ratio-dependent form, but avoids some of the behaviors of ratio-dependent models at low densities which have been the source of controversy,'' the authors incorporate it into a model considered by \textit{C. Duque} and \textit{M. Lizana} [Period. Math. Hung. 56, No. 1, 11--23 (2008; Zbl 1206.92046)]. More precisely, they are concerned with the diffusive predator-prey model \[ \begin{cases} \frac{\partial u_{1}}{\partial t} & =D_{1}\Delta u_{1}+au_{1}\left( 1-\frac{u_{1}}{K}\right) -\frac{cu_{1}u_{2}}{b+mu_{2}+u_{1}},\\ \frac{\partial u_{2}}{\partial t} & =D_{2}\Delta u_{2}-du_{2}+f\int_{-\infty }^{t}\int_{\Omega}\frac{\xi G\left( x,y,t-s\right) u_{1}\left( y,s\right) u_{2}\left( y,s\right) e^{-\xi\left( t-s\right) }}{b+mu_{2}\left( y,s\right) +u_{1}\left( y,s\right) }\,dy\,ds, \end{cases} \] where \(x\in\Omega,\) \(t>0,\) under homogeneous Neumann boundary conditions \[ \frac{\partial u_{1}}{\partial\nu}=\frac{\partial u_{2}}{\partial\nu}=0,\qquad x\in\partial\Omega,\qquad t>0, \] and initial conditions \[ u_{1}\left( x,\theta\right) =\phi_{1}\left( x,\theta\right) \geq0,\qquad u_{2}\left( x,\theta\right) =\phi_{2}\left( x,\theta\right) \geq 0,\qquad\left( x,\theta\right) \in\bar{\Omega}\times(-\infty,0]. \] It is established first that the system is permanent. Then existence of the unique positive equilibrium and its global asymptotic stability are proved with the parameter region for asymptotic stability different from the one obtained by Duque and Lizana [loc. cit.].
