The authors establish existence results for Sturm-Liouville boundary value problems associated with planar systems at resonance. There is a large literature concerning the Dirichlet and the Neumann problem for second order differential equations, for which the subtle Landesman-Lazer conditions are often used in order to guarantee existence. (We recall that those conditions happen to be necessary and sufficient when the nonlinearity is monotone.) When passing to the phase plane, these conditions give important information on the rotational properties of the solutions. In this paper, Landesman-Lazer conditions are proposed for very general boundary conditions associated to planar systems which have a positively homogeneous principal part at resonance, and a bounded perturbing nonlinearity. The proofs are based on the shooting method, and the statements are accompanied by some nice clarifying figures.
