New operators for varieties of completely regular semigroups. (Q2634959)

In a series of articles, starting with [J. Aust. Math. Soc. 83, No. 1, 87-104 (2007; Zbl 1142.20035)], the author has investigated the decomposition of the lattice of varieties of completely regular semigroups induced by intersecting with the variety \(\mathbf B\) of bands. This approach has been fruitful by virtue, especially, of the complete knowledge of the lattice of varieties of bands. The current paper sets out a programme using, on the one hand, intersections with the variety of groups and with the variety of completely simple semigroups and, on the other hand, joins with each of the three cited varieties. Each operation induces operators on the entire lattice. As the author notes, much of the discussion is dependent on the fact that each of the three cited varieties is neutral in the lattice, that is, each is infinitely meet and join distributive and separates the lattice. The general results are specialized to certain sublattices, such as the lattice of varieties of orthogroups.
