Generalized complex geometry, initiated by N. Hitchin, may be viewed as a general machinery which treats complex geometry, symplectic geometry, Poisson geometry, etc. in a unified fashion. Given a generalized complex structure, there is a notion of generalized holomorphic structures for a vector bundle over the underlying manifold. This paper develops a deformation theory for generalized holomorphic structures, which, as the author emphasizes, allows the generalized complex structure to vary with the generalized holomorphic structure. The differential graded Lie algebra (DGLA) that controls this deformation theory is explicitly given, and the cases where the generalized complex structures are symplectic and/or complex are studied in detail. Many examples are given.
