    In this paper, the authors investigate the eigencurves \((\lambda, \mu)\) for a weighted quasi-linear Sturm-Liouville-type problem \[ \begin{aligned} & -\Delta_{p} y = (p-1)(\lambda r - q - \mu s) \text{\,sgn\,} y|y|^{p-1} \quad \text{on }(0,1),\\ & y'(0)\sin\alpha_{0} = y(0)\cos\alpha_{0}, \quad \text{where }\alpha_{0}\in[0,\pi),\\ & y'(1)\sin\alpha_{1} = y(1)\cos\alpha_{1}, \quad \text{where }\alpha_{1}\in(0,\pi], \end{aligned} \] where \(\Delta_{p}\) is the \(p\)-Laplacian, \(1 < p < \infty\), \(q,r,s\in L_{1}(0,1)\), \(s > 0\). For \(p=2\), the differential equation is reduced to \[ -y''+q y = (\lambda r - \mu s)y \] and the corresponding Sturm-Liouville problem is studied in [SIAM Rev. 38, No.1, 27-48 (1996; Zbl 0869.34020)]. The authors investigate the asymptotic behaviour of particular eigencurves. Firstly, Hölder classes are used to show that the eigencurves are at least \(C^{1,\alpha}\), where \(\alpha\) depends on \(p\). Secondly, the authors investigate estimates of the form \(\frac{\mu_{n}(\lambda)}{\lambda}\to a_{n}\) for \(|\lambda|\to \infty\) to get the ``asymptotic directions''. Finally, necessary and sufficient conditions are given for more precise asymptotics of the form \(\mu_{n}(\lambda) = a_{n}\lambda + b_{n} + o(1)\) as \(\lambda \to \infty\). Thus, the existence of oblique asymptotes is obtained.
