This paper studies the Deffuant model in which two neighboring individuals randomly meet and share their opinions if their discrepancy is less than a given threshold \(\theta\). When the underlying network is a line \(\mathbb{Z}\), the authors show the critical threshold \(\theta_c\) for initial opinions that not necessarily distributed uniformly on \([0,1]\) (but still i.i.d.). Moreover, the results are extended to the higher-dimensional lattices \(\mathbb{Z}^d\) for \(d\geq2\) and the infinite cluster of supercritical bond percolation on them.
