This paper characterizes various spaces of translation operators and multipliers on Banach-valued function spaces. Let G be a locally compact abelian group, A a commutative Banach algebra, X and Y Banach spaces. A bounded linear operator T from a Banach-function space E(G,X) into another F(G,Y) is called invariant if T commutes with translations. The authors prove that an operator T: \(L^ 1(G)\to L^ p(G,X)\) is invariant if and only if it is a multiplier. Furthermore, the space of all the invariant operators from \(L^ 1(G,Y)\) into \(L^ 1(G,X)\), (resp. from \(L^ 1(G,Y)\) into \(L^ p(G,X))\) is isomorphic to the space \({\mathfrak L}(Y,M(G,X))\) (resp. to \({\mathfrak L}(Y,L^ p(G,X)))\) (theorems 1, 2 and 3). They also study the case where X is a Banach A-module (theorems 4 and 5). Finally, they show that if dim A\(>1\) and if X is a unit linked faithful A-module, then there exists an invariant operator T from \(L^ 1(G,A)\) to \(L^ p(G,X)\), such that \(T\not\in Hom_ A(L^ 1(G,A),L^ p(G,X))\) (theorem 6).
