Three problems with strong nonlinearity are considered. The problems are as follows: the modified van der Pol oscillator, the modified KdV equation, and the generalized KdV equation. The authors analyze them on the basis of their own modified method of full approximation. The method lies in introducing a nonlinear transformation of coordinates to make the higher-order terms of the asymptotic solutions of the nonlinear problems equal to zero and then to express the sufficiently accurate solutions of the nonlinear problems with the first-term solutions. For the modified van der Pol oscillator the results obtained by the authors agree with the results obtained by the generalized method of averaging. For the modified KdV equation the authors yield the correct second-order approximate solution of solitary waves, and for the generalized KdV equation the authors present a third-order asymptotic solution of these waves. All the results show that the proposed method can be effectively applied to the study of some problems with strong nonlinearity.
