It is proved that a ring \(A\) is a nil ring with d.c.c. on principal right ideals (briefly: MHR-ring) if and only if \(A\) is a left \(T\)-nilpotent ring such that each of its elements has finite additive order if and only if \(A\) is left \(T\)-nilpotent and \(\alpha (A)=A\) where \(\alpha\) is the lower radical of all zero rings of prime order. Corollaries are: any subring of a nil MHR-ring is again such a ring; a nilpotent ring is an MHR-ring if and only if every element of it has finite additive order; a nil MHR-ring has d.c.c. on principal left ideals if and only if it is right \(T\)-nilpotent. A nil subring of an MHR-ring is locally nilpotent.
