A complex Lie group is called toroidal if all global holomorphic functions on it are constant; such a Lie group is called of finite type if all its Dolbeault cohomology groups are finite dimensional. The paper investigates the relations between the Dolbeault cohomology groups of a complex Lie group G and those of its maximal toroidal subgroup \(G^ 0\). The following properties of \(H^ 1(G,{\mathcal O}):\) finite dimensionality, Hausdorff or non Hausdorff topology, are determined by \(G^ 0\) and its type.
