The aim of the paper is to show that the derivatives of set-valued maps defined by means of contingent cones are well suited to develop optimality conditions for vector optimization problems. In addition to the concept of contingent derivatives lower and upper semi- differentiabilities of maps are also defined, and some calculus rules which have not yet been provided in the literature are given. The author establishes necessary and sufficient conditions in terms of contingent derivatives for both unconstrained and constrained optimization problems with objective functions being set-valued maps.
