Let f be a transcendental entire function and \((\lambda_ n)_{n\in {\mathbb{N}}}\) be a sequence in \({\mathbb{C}}\) with \(| \lambda_{n+1}| /| \lambda_ n| >g>1\). Define the entire function F by \(F:=f^ nQ(f)\), where \(n\in {\mathbb{N}}\) with \(n\geq 3\) and Q(f)\(\not\equiv 0\) is a differential polynomial in f with small entire functions as coefficients. Then the author proves that \(F'\) assumes all values \(w\in {\mathbb{C}}\setminus \{0\}\) infinitely often. This theorem answers a question raised by \textit{J. M. Anderson}, \textit{I. N. Baker} and \textit{J. G. Clunie} [Math. Z. 178, 509-525 (1981; Zbl 0473.30023)].
