The author considers the selfadjoint system: \((1)\quad U''(t)+p(t)U(t)=0,\) \(t\geq a\), where p is a locally integrable \(n\times n\) Hermitian matrix-valued function on [a,\(\infty)\). In the main results there are proved conditions for the existence of a pair of prepared solutions (i.e. \(U^{'*}U=U^*U')\) of (1), which have the same asymptotic properties as a pair of fundamental solutions of \(U''=0\). On the end the main results are applied to the systems \(U''+p(t)U=q(t)\) and \(U''+p(t)U=f(t,U),\) \(t\geq a\).
