On optimality of spline interpolation for recovery of differentiable functions (Q2640074)

For an arbitrary function in \(W^ r_ p\) \((1\leq p<\infty)\) with given values and derivatives at given points the problem of optimal recovery of the value at a fixed point is investigated. The optimality of spline- interpolation of degree r-1 is proven. For \(p=1\) spline-interpolation of degree r-2 turns out to be optimal.
