The Fisher's fundamental theorem of natural selection is generalized to the case of biocultural evolution: The fitness of an individual is supposed to depend on the fitness of its parent as well as on the genotype. The generalized theorem says, that the rate of change in mean fitness is equal to twice the covariance between parent and offspring fitnesses.
