This paper deals with the measure-valued diffusion processes of Dawson and Watanabe, also called superprocesses by Dynkin. In the case of super- Brownian motion, the author gives sufficient conditions for a given set to be hit by the k-multiple points of the support process (the support process is by definition the set-valued process whose value at time t is the topological support of the measure-valued process at the same time). In connection with a previous work of \textit{D. A. Dawson}, \textit{I. Iscoe} and \textit{E. A. Perkins} [Probab. Theory Relat. Fields 83, No.1, 135-205 (1989; Zbl 0692.60063)], these results lead to necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of k-multiple points. For instance, double points exist in dimensions \(d\leq 7.\) The case \(k=1\) corresponds to the problem of characterising the so-called polar sets. In terms of a certain capacity in \({\mathbb{R}}^ d\), the author gives a sufficient condition for a set to be nonpolar. This condition has recently be shown by \textit{E. B. Dynkin} [ibid. 89, No.1, 89-115 (1991; Zbl 0722.60062)] to be also necessary. The author also studies properties of the support process \((S_ t)\). For super-Brownian motion with \(d\geq 3\), he proves that the mapping \(t\to S_ t\) is a.s. cadlag and that for every t, \(S_ t\subset S_{t-}\) and \(S_{t-}\setminus S_ t\) is either empty or a singleton. Finally, the author also considers ``super Lévy processes''. He proves in particular that, when the spatial motion is a symmetric stable process with index \(\alpha <2\), a.s. for every \(t>0\), the support is either \({\mathbb{R}}^ d\) or empty.
