A (social) ``choice function'' (c.f.) in a set (universe) X is a mapping C: P(X)\(\to P(X)\) such that C(A)\(\subset A\) for every A from the power set P(X) of X. A c.f. C in X is called ``fuzzy rational'' (f.r.) if it is connected in a defined way to a fuzzy relation in X. It was stated in the literature that a c.f. C is fuzzy rational iff C(A)\(\cap C(B)\subset C(A\cup B)\) for all A, B. The author shows by a counterexample that this does not hold and gives another characterization of f.r. functions.
