One of the classical sets of nodes for bivariate interpolation are principal lattices. These sets were formally described by \textit{R. A. Nicolaides} [SIAM J. Numer. Anal. 9, 435--445 (1972; Zbl 0282.65009)] in \(\mathbb R^m\). In the plane \(\mathbb R^2\) they consist of intersection points of three families of equidistant parallel lines. Principal lattices satisfy the geometric characterization for sets of nodes in \(\mathbb R^m\) introduced in 1977 by \textit{K. C. Chung} and \textit{T. H. Yao} [SIAM J. Numer. Anal. 14, 735--743 (1977; Zbl 0367.65003)].
