This paper is concerned with exact controllability results for first order neutral functional differential equation. More precisely the authors consider the following class of semilinear differential equations, \[ \frac{d}{dt}\,[x(t)-g(t,x_t)]=A[x(t)-g(t,x_t)]+Cu(t)+F(t,x_t),\;t\in[0,a],\qquad x_0=\phi \] where \(g,\;F:J\times C([-r,0],X)\to X\) are single-valued functions, \(X\) is a Banach the unbounded linear operators \(A: D(A)\subset X\to X\) is a nondensely defined closed linear operator on \(X,\;C\) is a bounded linear operator from \(X\) into \(X\), and the control parameter \(u(\cdot)\) belongs to \(L^{2}(J,U)\) a space of admissible controls with \(U\) a Banach space, and \(\phi\in C([-r,0],X)\). For a function \(x\) we define \(x_t\in C([-r,0],X),\;t\in[0,a]\), by \(x_t(\theta)=x(t+\theta)\), for \(\theta\in[-r,0]. \) The result rely on a fixed point theorem due to \textit{B. N Sadovskii} [Funct. Anal. Appl. 1 (1967), 151--153 (1968); translation from Funkts. Anal. Prilozh. 1, No. 2, 74--76 (1967; Zbl 0165.49102)], combined with integrated semigroup. An example is presented to demonstrate the applicability of the main result.
