The paper is devoted to the fundamental examination of affine differential geometry of hypersurfaces in a real space form. It is proved that the unit normal vector field is an affine imbedding into a certain sphere bundle with canonical metric and some relations between a hypersurface and its unit normal vector field as an affine imbedding is studied. Several hypersurfaces are characterized by affine geometric conditions which are independent of the choice of transversal bundle. Some valuable mutually equivalent conditions characterizing interesting geometrical situations are formulated and proved in the paper.
