A sequence of approximate solutions of the \(H\)-system \[ \Delta u=2H(u)u_x\wedge u_y\tag{1} \] in \(\Omega\subset \mathbb{R}^2,\) where \(H: \mathbb{R}^3\to\mathbb{R}\) is a continuous function, is a sequence \((u^n)\subset H^1_{loc}(\Omega)\) such that \[ \begin{aligned}&\Delta u^n=2H(u^n)u^n_x\wedge u^n_y+f^n\text{ in }D'(\Omega),\\ &u^n\to u\text{ weakly in }H^1_{loc}(\Omega)\end{aligned} \] for some \(u\in H^1_{loc}(\Omega)\) and some \(f^n\in H^{-1}_{loc}(\Omega)\) satisfying \(\displaystyle{f^n\to 0\text{ in }H^{-1}_{loc}(\Omega).}\) The authors prove the following result: if \(H\) is of the form \[ H(p)=H_0+K(p)\text{ for }p\in\mathbb{R}^3 \] with \(H_0\in\mathbb{R}\) and \(K\in C^0(\mathbb{R}^3,\mathbb{R})\) such that \(\sup_{p\in\mathbb{R}^3}| K(p)p| <1\) and if \((u^n)\subset H^1_{loc}(\Omega)\) is a sequence of approximate solutions of (1) weakly converging to some \(u\in H^1_{loc}(\Omega),\) then: (i) \(u\) is a locally bounded solution of (1). (ii) There exists a countable set \(S\subset\Omega\) of isolated points such that \(u^n\to u\) strongly in \(H^1_{loc}(\Omega-S).\) (iii) If \(H_0=0\) then \(S\) is empty. (iv) If \(H_0\neq 0\) and \(\lim_{| p| \to+\infty}K(p)p=0\) then in correspondence of each point of \(S\) the sequence \((u^n)\) blows at least either an \(H\)-bubble or an \(H_0\)-sphere. In contrast with previous works, no more regularity than continuity on \(H\) is required. The presence of a possible blow up of \(H_0\)-spheres seems also to be a new result.
