The aim of the article is to present the detailed self-contained proof of the convergence of the critical site percolation exploration path on the triangular lattice to the trace of chordal SLE, for Jordan domains. The convergence is understood in the strong sense: in the topology induced by the uniform metric on continuous curves modulo monotonic reparametrization, and locally uniformly in the ``shape'' of the domain and the starting and ending points of the curve. The key tool of the proof is the theorem of \textit{S. Smirnov} [C. R. Acad. Sci., Paris, Sér. I, Math. 333, No. 3, 239--244 (2001; Zbl 0985.60090)] that crossing probabilities have a conformally invariant scaling limit given by Cardy's formula
