Let \({(\Omega,{\mathcal T}, \mu)}\) be a measured space with a \(\sigma\)-finite positive measure. Given a measurable function \({v:\Omega\to [-\infty, +\infty]}\), the author considers the upper integral of~\(v\) defined by \[ I_v=\int_\Omega^* v\,d\mu= \inf\left\{\int_\Omega u d\,\mu,\;u\in L_1(\omega,{\mathbb R}),\;v\leq u, \mu-\text{a.e.} \right\}. \] Suppose \(E\) is a finite dimensional linear space, \({f:\Omega\times E\to [-\infty, +\infty]}\). For an element \(x\) in \(L_p(\Omega, E)\) by \(f(x)\) the following function is denoted: \(\omega\to f(\omega,x(\omega))\). The integral functional \(I_f\) associated to \(f\) is the functional defined at a point \({x\in L_p(\Omega,E)}\) by: \({I_f(x)=I_{f(x)}=\int_{\Omega}^* f(x)\,d\mu}\). In the paper under review the connections between the Lipschitzian properties of the functional \(I_f\) and Lipschitzian properties of the integrand \(f\) are established. The integral functional \(I_f\) is Lipschitzian on \(L_p\), \({1\leq p<\infty}\), if and only if the integrand \(f\) is Lipschitzian with a Lipschitz rate in the conjugate space \(L_q\), \({1/p+1/q=1}\). In the case that the measure \(\mu\) is atomless some characterizations of locally Lipschitzian integral functionals are given by polynomial growth conditions on the subdifferentials of the integrand~\(f\).
