The collision of solitons in plasmas is studied in this paper by the aid of the quasi-particle theory. For the solitons, nonlinear Alfvén waves are considered. Thus, the paper first presents a review of the perturbed derivative nonlinear Schrödinger equation (DNLSE) and its soliton and two-soliton solutions. The perturbation terms taken into account concern nonlinear damping, finite conductivity and Landau damping. Further, the quasi-particle theory dating back to the works by Karpman and Solov'ev [see e.g. \textit{V. I. Karpman}, Phys. Rev. E 62, No. 4, 5678 (2000)] is presented and applied to the soliton-soliton interaction. It is shown that the special form of the perturbation term of the perturbed DNLSE taken into account results in a damping term in the obtained by the quasi-particle theory expression for the soliton separation. This damping term describes a suppression of the soliton-soliton interaction. Thus, further, the suppression of the soliton-soliton interaction by the perturbation is studied numerically. The numerical simulations support the developed theory.
