The author of the article acknowledges not having been able to trace specific biographical indications concerning Franz Meyer. In a letter written during February 1904, instead of providing Meyer with helpful recommendations, Hausdorff presented himself as a terrific counterexample. Hausdorff's pseudonym Paul Mongrés, a French name, can be translated in German by `mein Geschmack, meine Meinung, mein Wunsch und Willen', i.e., my personal taste. That choice may disclose, to a certain extent, Hausdorff's quite elementary motivations for his preference of particular philosophical fields of interest.
