The author, in a previous note [Topology Appl. 20, 179-189 (1985; Zbl 0568.54015)], proved that any epireflective subcategory of the category \({\mathcal I}\) of all topological spaces and continuous maps admits exactly one closed category structure. \textit{H. Brandenburg} and \textit{M. Hušek} [Lect. Notes Math. 962, 33-38 (1982; Zbl 0497.54008)] proved that any reflective subcategory of \({\mathcal I}\) containing a discrete two- element space is not cartesian closed. In this paper it is proved that if \({\mathcal A}\) is a reflective subcategory of \({\mathcal I}\) containing a discrete two-element space and (\(\square,H)\) is a closed structure on \({\mathcal A}\), then for any X,Y\(\in {\mathcal A}\), H(X,Y) is the space of all continuous maps from X to Y endowed with the topology of pointwise convergence. Moreover if \({\mathcal A}\) is reflective and closed under the formation of function spaces with the topology of pointwise convergence then such a closed structure exists. Several applications are given.
