    The author poses and solves several extremal problems in different classes of analytic, univalent functions. Let \(\Sigma^ 0\) denote the class of functions \(w=F(\zeta)\) that are analytic in \(1<| \zeta | <\infty\), univalent and nonzero in \(| \zeta | >1\), with a simple pole at \(\zeta =\infty\). For a fixed point \(\zeta_ 1\) in \(| \zeta | >1\), the author finds the extremal functions for the functional \(I[F]=Re\{\zeta_ 1-F(\zeta_ 1)\}\) \((F\in \Sigma^ 0)\). As a corollary it turns out that \(| Re\{\zeta_ 1-F(\zeta_ 1)\}| <3\) \((F\in \Sigma^ 0)\). For the class of normalized, starlike functions in the unit disk, the author proves that \[ | \frac{f(z_ 1)-z_ 1}{z_ 1f(z_ 1)}| \leq 2+| z_ 1|. \] For the class T of typically real, normalized, univalent functions in the unit disk, the author considers the functional \[ I_ n[f]=\frac{f(x)-x-a_ 2x^ 2- ...-a_ nx^ n}{x^ nf(x)}\quad (x\quad fixed,\quad -1<x<1). \] He shows that \(| I_ n[f]| \leq n| x| +n+1\) for every \(f\in T\).
