The author uses Bielecki's method to prove existence and uniqueness for Volterra integral equation in \(L^ p\)-space. The central idea is the introduction of a norm equivalent to the \(L^ p\)-norm using a weight function. Specifically, the equivalent norm considered is \(\| u\|_{p,\omega}=(\sup \{\omega^{-1}(x)\int^{x}_{0}| u(s)|^ pds;\quad 0\leq x\leq a,\quad a>0\})^{1/p},\) where \(\omega: [0,a]\to (0,\infty)\) is continuous. Using the equivalent norm the author shows that the right hand side of the integral equation is a contraction. He extends the idea to certain abstract functional equations in \(L^ p_{loc}\)-spaces. The author also addresses the problem of finding a weight function \(\omega\).
