Let \(E\) be a real Banach space. The semilinear evolution equation \[ x'(t)=A(t)x(t)+f(t,x(t)), \;t\in \mathbb{R_+}, \quad x(0)=x_0 \] is studied, where \(A(t):D_t\subset E\to E\) generates an evolution system \(U(t,s)\) and \(f:\mathbb{R_+}\times E\to E \) is a given function. The existence of mild solutions to the above problem is considered. The authors establish two existence results by means of a suitably constructed regular measure of noncompactness in the Frechet space \(C(\mathbb{R_+},E)\) and of Tichonov fixed point theorem. In the first theorem, it is assumed that \(A(t)\) generates a uniformly continuous evolution system \(U(t,s)\), whereas, in the second theorem \(A(t)\) generates a strongly continuous evolution system \(U(t,s)\). As an application, the authors obtain the existence of at least one mild solution to a second-order parabolic initial/boundary-value problem.
