Numerical evaluation for Cauchy type singular integrals on the interval (Q2654207)

The authors study the numerical evaluation for Cauchy type singular integrals on the interval. The method of discrete vortices is developed for integrals of the form \(I(\phi, x)= \int_{-1}^{1}w(t)\frac{\phi(t)}{t-x}dt\) where \(x\in (-1,1)\) and \(w(x)\) is a fixed weight function. A new quadrature formula based on the modification of the discrete vortex method to approximate the singular integral is constructed. The constructed quadrature formulas are validated by giving numerical examples.
